Smoking ban turns into farce
England has finally got its long overdue amoking ban. Shame it's a farce.
The proposal put before parliament waa a full ban on smoking in a public place.
What we got was a ban on smoking in places that serve food and for that we have John Reid to thank.
John Reid is a former health secretary and represents a Scottish constituency.
The ban on smoking only extends to England, as health is a devolved matter.
Mr Reid's constituents in Scotland will be enjoying the full ban that was proposed for England from April 2006, thanks to the Scottish executive.
How much longer will we be forced to tolerate Scottish and Welsh MPs forcing unwanted and inferior legislation on England?
We didn't elect them and we can't vote them out of office - no wonder that Jeremv Paxman called the British government the Scottish raj.
We need an English parliament.

BUT ANYWAY- the reason im commenting lol, English Parliment would be good (although it always has been really, apart from the last few yrs)they could Build a wall again lol,
there is 2 really good things to come out of England tho, M6 and they A1, brilliant Ideas well done there, So SMOKING BAN - now really think about the STATS im about to give you, they are on the Web plain as day at the NHS direct site,,,,, SMOKING has been decreasing Rapidly the last 15 yrs, only around 35% of the Population in England actually Smoke compared to 55% 15 yrs ago. SO you can All ask WHY has ASMA, and LUNG CANCER increased within 15yrs????????? so think about it, How is that Possible?? What has Increased within the Last 15yrs to Show the for the Increase in Lung Disease?????? Got it yet?????

Oh, Linden, I never noticed your comment about hypocritical English laws the first time. Can I just point out that English laws are originated, formulated, debated and passed in the British Parliament with MP's from all of the home nations voting on English laws and often over-ruling the majority of English MP's on legislation that only affect England.
