The British government is determined to create a network of regional police forces to compliment its programme of the balkanisation of England.
Shropshire is covered by West Mercia Police which has just been named the best performing police force in the UK. This is despite it being one of the most underfunded forces in the country.
The British government's plans for West Mercia all revolve around it being merged with West Midlands police, based in Birmingham. What do a metropolitan police force know about rural policing? How much funding can we expect for rural Shropshire if Birmingham is controlling the purse strings?
This is bad for Shropshire and bad for England. West Mercia Police want to hear our views on the proposals. Click here for further information and to access their survey.
