Welcome to the Shropshire CEP blog

Welcome to the Campaign for an English Parliament Shropshire Branch blog.

The CEP is a national organisation campaigning for the government to allow the people of England to decide whether they want an English Parliament like they do in Scotland.

When the people of Scotland and Wales were asked if they wanted their own devlolved governments, the English were left out. Every year £15 billion of English taxes flow over our borders to subsidise the devoled governments in Scotland and Wales. This tax money ensures that our "partners" can continue to receive benefits such as free prescriptions, free care for the elderly, better medication, etc.

These expensive perks are paid for by the English taxpayer, yet we are barred from receiving the benefits ourselves.

There is a word for this - discrimination.

The Shropshire branch of the CEP is newly established and currently has only a small number of members.

We are working to raise awareness of the CEP on a local level which should hopefully bring new members with it.

Membership of the CEP is important for a number of reasons. The membership fees pay for advertising, press releases, postage, telephone calls, campaigning costs and much more. Just as importantly, the more members we have, the bigger our voice is. The more members we have, the more likely the government are to listen to us and the sooner we stop being treated like the proverbial cash cow.
